Yard Shunter

Job Description

As a Yard Shunter, you will be responsible for moving the heavy-duty vehicles in the Yard.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and move trucks and trailers within the distribution yard safely and efficiently.

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on vehicles to ensure they are in good working condition.

• Load and unload shipments as required.

• Maintain accurate records of all trucks and trailers entering and exiting the yard.

• Keep the yard clean and organized.

• Communicate with the distribution team to ensure timely loading and unloading of shipments.

• Report any maintenance or safety issues with vehicles or equipment to management.

• Cross-train in other areas of the distribution center to provide support as needed.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Must be 18 years or older.

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Yard Shunter or truck driving.

• Can drive both automatic and standard trucks.

• Valid Class DZ or AZ license, with a clean driving record.

• Knowledge of transportation and distribution industry best practices.

• Solid understanding of safety regulations and procedures.

• Ability to operate various types of trucks and trailers.

• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

• Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects.
